oh man.. TRON.

I don’t normally blog about movies, etc. but this one (or the original, I guess) holds a special place in heart. TRON has been a big deal for me since I was a kid.. both technologically (the dreams I had of what was possible) and visually..

I would highly suggest downloading the 1080p version :)

Cherry Shrimp

May 14, 2007 Uncategorized Comments

I just bought some Cherry Shrimp from John

Well, the tank has been up and down since the last photo.. But it’s finally settled out and I’ve gotten closer to a stable environment.. I’m doing CO2 injection rough using this method and I’ve added a Coralite 36″ T5 setup.. (That link, incidentally, is a much better price than I got at the local store) The light seems great, and is a HUGE improvement. I’m going to try to post pics of the progress, as I plan to thicken the planting every month or so until I get what I’m going for..

My life/Music

October 18, 2006 Uncategorized Comments

It’s been quiet on here for quite a while.. mostly because I’m not sure if anyone reads this.. but also because I’ve been very busy..
Lots of work stuff (too boring to talk about) and lots of music stuff..
my band, The Flight Out has become a really big part of my time..
We’ve been playing a few shows a month, and recently went into a studio and recorded 6 songs for an ep, which is due to release sometime in Nov.

We’ve played with some great bands lately, and have written some new songs that continue to evolve and improve.
I’ve also had the chance to experiment a lot with sounds and songwriting..
Lots of new toys have come along to keep things interesting.. but the biggest part of it is that these guys, the guys in the band, are PHENOMENAL!
The songs that we’ve written are definitely the best that I’ve ever had anything to do with.. and the friendships I have with each of them is really amazing..

We’re having a blast, and hopefully other people are enjoying it too..

Check us out, if you get a chance, and keep an ear out for the new CD (it’ll be on iTunes too)

my new “axe”

I’ve been wanting a second electric guitar for quite a while.. and have shopped around.. thought about about all of the pluses and minuses of different brands (although never really out of the realm of Fender and Gibson… and maybe gretsch) I had finally decided to find a decent body and neck from something from the 60′s and start building up a project restoration guitar. Then I was in Jacksonville, this past weekend playing a show, and we got to stop by a great place called Don’s Pawn & Music (which, btw, has NOTHING but great music equipment) Don was super cool, and really helpful.. I saw this guitar and immediately fell in love with it. I walked around the store with it in my hand for about 30 minutes, and finally bought it. I love Bigsby’s and I love the fact that most Les Pauls don’t get them. I also love the fact that the EMG pickups were already installed (I would have done that to ANY les paul I bought) Anyway, I haven’t named her yet (my Mustang finally got the name, Trixie) but she’s a 1991 Gibson Les Paul (although the headstock tag is blank,so I don’t know if she’s a studio or standard)

Well, I’ve had this 1969 Fender Mustang for quite a few years now, and I’ve always wanted to restore it to it’s original (or slightly modified) “glory”. When I got it, it’d been “refinished” with some crappy clearcoat, and bad wiring.. I ended up using the sunburst system from Guitar Reranch.. I won’t go into the specific process, because I just followed the steps that they have shown, and it worked great! Much easier than I’d expected.. I got all of the chrome parts rechromed (thanks to Lor at jailhouse Choppers) and just got those in today, so I got it put back together. I’d also replaced the pots, switches and input jack, and all wiring.. Also a new pickguard (the old one was “modified” by the previous owner. I was really worried about the buzz I was getting in the wiring, but once I put the bridge and the strings on, it was just about completely gone.. sound much better than it did before! After almost 4 months of working and waiting (on chrome) it feels like I’ve been reunited with an old friend.. I love this guitar.. here are some pics.. Old paint Stripped, with black band Base color Finished burst With new chrome & pickguard
