Well, looks like a scooter club is starting up in Savannah..
It’s weird, I’ve been trying to get one started for a couple of years now.. and all of the sudden, another guy has made it happen..
We’re trying to get the club going, and have scheduled a mini-rally for Aug 6 at 10 am..

FlashMyAdmin looks really impressive!
It’s like phpMyAdmin, but has a Flash interface!

I started a Flash interface for MSSQL a long time ago, but abandoned it because it wasn’t needed anymore.. and looking at this, I can see that I still had a VERY long way to go on it..

Well done!!

Well, another full day yesterday and we made some REAL progress!!

Now it’s time for railing and benches!!!

Well, my Dad and Grandad were a HUGE help this weekend on the deck project..
They helped me get the stairs figured out and cut, and it took a solid day..

It definitely would have taken me twice as long without their guidance and manual labor SO thanks guys! You’re awesome!!

Then my friend Bert came over and helped me finish up the stairs and put down the first decking!

It’s starting to take shape, and we definitely have the hardest part out of the way!

Ah… a productive Saturday (and a relaxing Sunday) has never felt so good…
we’re getting very close

I’ve been wanting to build a deck onto the back of our house since we moved in (over a year) but never got around to making the plans, getting the wood, etc. …plus, the cost of the thing has always been a bit out of reach..
Well, I finally started it.. and it’s moving along nicely..

SO, I’m suffering through my wife and her friends watching “The Bachelor” finale (good Lord, how ridiculous)
when one of the 2 HUGE oak trees in front of my house breaks, and lands in my neighbors yard.
Felt like an earthquake…
It took down a power line and fell right up against their car, but not ON it (Thanks God)

Now, technically, it’s on city property, so I’m assuming they’ll take responsibility for it, and finish taking the tree down, but we’ll see..
my biggest worry is that part of what fell is still hanging on a limb that extends OVER my neighbors house.. it that comes down.. it’s bad news..

Well, I’ve always kind of been a PC guy.. not for any real reason other than that the cost makes more sense than being a Mac owner..
Well, it recently came time for my wife to get a very small laptop to take with her to her jewelry store.
She’s pretty indifferent to computers in general, so it worked out that we got her a 12″ iBook.
(serves her at the store, and gives me a chance to play with Garageband, iMovie, Tiger, etc.. at home)

We’ve only had it for a few days, but I really like it already.
The Dashboard is far more useful than I’d expected, and I can imagine that the 2nd/3rd generation widgets will be even better..

I’m still not sure about Garageband, but I haven’t spent enough time in it to get a feel for it yet.
Also, I think I’ve been spoiled on Pro-Tools long enough, that anything else seems amateurish… we’ll see though.. could be really good for making demos at home..

Someone recently asked me how much of my “blog” was in Flash, since I’m a developer, and do a lot of Flash..
then I realized that the only part in Flash was the comments form. and that waas mainly to fight against automated SPAM.
the rest of the site is basic html.. it never really crossed my mind to use a lot of Flash components in the site…
This site hasn’t been something that I put a lot of work into.. it has just kind of been pieced together over time..

So, to go along with my “advocacy” for Flash as a useful tool.. I promise to put some Flash in the site where it might be useful. Starting with the nav on the right..
Hopefully in the next few days.. but we’ll see what my schedule will allow..
