B Mace just put a new portfolio, you should go check it out, because he’s REALLY good at what he does.

Also, he sent me an article called “The Way I Work: Jason Fried of 37Signals” which show Jason Fried’s approach to his work day..  It’s inspiring and makes a lot of sense… if only more business owners would follow suit.

BFG Interactive recently launched a new site for The South Magazine.

I built all of the flash pieces for the site, including ad rotators, media players and image galleries.

I’m the VP and senior developer at BFG Interactive, the interactive division of BFG Communications, and we just recently launched a new company site.

The site is a hybrid of html, AJAX, and Flash which had to to an existing extranet for some content, provide deep linking, and be visually dynamic… so the technical challenges were great, but we’re very proud of the final outcome. I did a great deal of the Flash work throughout the site, along with a great team of designers and other developers.

Thanks to my good friend Bmace I recently had the chance to build a Design-A-Lighter component for Bic

It was a short deadline and complicated build, but a ton of fun to do, and as always, I learned a lot..   Probably the coolest part of it, is looking through the gallery of lighters that people have made with a tool that I made..  it’s far more gratifying to build tools than it is to build marketing pieces.. however insignificant the “end product” is that the tool generates.

Basically, it looks like the site is duplicating what FlashDen is doing, but there are a few noticeable differences so far.

First, and biggest, authors start out with %50 commission on their sales.. on FlashDen, it takes quite a bit to get to %50, and you have to be an exclusive author.

You can set your own prices, which is cool, vs FlashDen, and they’ve setup their submission process to mirror FlashDens so putting files on both sites (or moving files from one to the other) is really simple.

The site is currently in ALPHA, and is constantly undergoing improvements, so it’s a little rough around the edges, but I think it’ll turn out to be pretty nice.
The email I got from them said that they haven’t done any marketing yet (because they’re trying to get initial authors and content setup) so I’d imagine sales on the site will be pretty low until the marketing kicks in.

Check out the site, buying or selling because I have a feeling A LOT of the FlashDen authors will be posting stuff here, and since you can set your own price and get a better commission, I’d imagine the prices will be better for those who are looking to buy files..

So, today I submitted a Flash 8/AS2 version, which hopefully will be live very soon..
If that floats your boat, take a gander.. (it’s IDENTICAL, except for the language and file version)

The first one I’ve published is called FlashMatch, and it’s a simple Memory -style matching game, complete with XML driven configuration, so you can customize and add your own images to the “cards”.

I’ve submitted the files, so it should be available on the site in the next few days.

BFG Interactive recently launched a new site for Kid-Didits, a test product for Mars Candy company.

I built several Flash pieces, including 2 stand alone games. The site was built for both kids, and their parents, so we got to do a wide range of levels of interactivity to keep both groups invested in the site.
